Ya Yan’s farewell
Thursday, August 27th, 2015
We are very excited to share with you the news that Ya Yan will be starting a new life in the USA with his adoptive parents.
Last year, United Foundation for China’s Health in cooperation with Bethel Healing Home held an event named ‘Learn Braille and Help a Child’. The event was aimed to raise awareness about vision impairment and to help those visually impaired children at Bethel foster home. The funds raised at the event were used to provide medical care for Ya Yan.
With the help of Dr. Wang Lan, Ya Yan received a cornea transplant and a surgery to cure his cataract. Though Ya Yan still suffers from leucoma and will need a second cornea transplant and eye lens implant in the future, there is no doubt that Dr. Wang’s surgery has helped to improve his vision.
On August 1st 2015, a farewell party was held at Bethel Healing home for Ya Yan. Staff from UFCH, and Dr Wang Lan attended to bid farewell to Ya Yan. Ya Yan’s adoptive parents were very excited to take Ya Yan to his new home. Although we will all miss Ya Yan, we are delighted that he has found a good family to take care of him. We wish that Ya Yan is happy forever and that he gets well soon.
