2014 Run for Hope Success
Thursday, October 23rd, 2014
In spite of an air quality index of +440, nearly 200 team members came out to Run for Hope! Some team members wore masks and others braved the day and the air and ran with no protection. Many team members ran further than they anticipated completing the half marathon in good time! Everyone was in good spirits and cheered each other on along the way! The Chair of the Board for United Foundation for China’s Health ran the half marathon and received her medal, doing us all a great honor. Our Charity Sponsor PwC came out if full force and with over 100 team members we could be spotted a long the race course. Sunday evening after the race, UFCH hosted a celebration dinner for sponsors and team members at Salt Spring Restaurant in the Lido area. There was an excellent turnout to enjoy the great food and ambience of the venue and have a chance to share stories, complain of aching muscles and hold onto their raffle ticket in hope of winning a special prize. Sponsors like Annie’s Italian Restaurant, Vogmask, Renaud Air, Toread, DNR Fitness, Juice by Melissa, Prime Fitness, Love Donation, the Irish Volunteer Bar, Keary Liu photography, Antonia Sampson jewelry, the Starfish Project and the paper cutter Zhang Yong Hong all contributed to our raffle and auction to make it a huge success. We are still tallying up all the donations from the individual runners, sponsors and supporters. Thanks to everyone who contributed to this event and fundraiser. All the proceeds will go to the launch of the Wheels for Life community health van which which will provide 1500 women with breast cancer screenings and medical check ups to over 1000 children in need.
